A little black dress of wonder
So the moral of the story is this: black dresses are fabulous–no matter the length–because modifying the length of a dress/skirt is the easiest (sassy snap, snap, demure look to the side–choose your strong side–and back) thing in the world to remedy.
In the whole wide world to remedy.
[Say that last sentence in a bit of a whisper–a raspy whisper. A bit like this:]
It’s mostly for effect. Well, that and entertainment.
I found this charming little black dress at Kohl’s several months ago. Loved the fit, the fabric, and the color. Oh yeh–and the price. (The crowd cheers–there is confetti–and thunderous applause.) Win.
[Because every girl needs a little black dress–not so much little–just a black dress. Or have multiple black dresses. As long as they aren’t identical black dresses. Because why would you do that?]
I purchased this treasure on ebay.
I do mean treasure. It is the loveliest of all.
And it was see through–which is charming and all kinds of appropriate when I’m dancing around the house like a sugar plum fairy with no audience but the cardboard boxes holding Christmas decorations.
This is how I probably look when I’m dancing in my kitchen. Probably. Just very close to actual footage.
Back to the see through bit of loveliness.
That’s my hand peeking through the delicate layers of fabric.
It wasn’t a problem for very long because I made this:
Which looks like this when combined:
It’s too wonderful to leave hanging in the closet for very long.
Put everything together (a shrug, a belt, two shoes, a bracelet, the dress, the crinoline, the liner) and what have you got?
Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo.
[Oh please. I told you I wasn’t a model. How on earth am I supposed to know what to do with my hands, hm?]
And just because the song is wonderful, I present this video for your viewing (and singing) pleasure.
Happy eighth day of Christmas month.

12 years agoOh my goodness girlfriend! I wish I had just one tiny bit of your talent! Just one little bit. And maybe I can put you in charge of my wardrobe too! Can’t wait to see your new dress in person!

12 years agoThat is certainly high praise coming from the likes of you. =0] I think being in charge of wardrobes would be a splendid job.

11 years agoSomehow, I do not know how… I missed this awesomist post! What a dahhhhling dress you have made. Seriously, you are my hero…. you have more creativity in your tiny, cute fingers than I have in my whole huge body… :p I just will have to read and see the greatness that is yours. 🙂

11 years agoFalse.
Singing is creativity. Being a fantastic mom is creativity–as well as just about the most courageous thing a woman can do. Being a fashion consultant is creativity. And that’s not the end of it.
So–I’m sticking with false.
On another note–please, please read. ~smile~
