Headband giveaway | July 21

Headband giveaway. [That’s right–headband give. a. way.] I’m a girl who’s just recently discovered headbands that will work. For moi. They work for moi. You know, without me feeling like I should be singing, “On the Good Ship, Lollipop” because I’m so darling. [I don’t wanna be darling.]  There are scads and scads [I’m not talking about “any of several carangid fishes of the genus Decapterus, especially D. punctatus of the western Atlantic,” scads–I’m talking about enormous amounts of choices, scads] of headbands available for purchase. Check out Pinterest and I’m sure you’ll find 103 ways to make a headband and then tie it [or alternatively use it for something else besides a headband–like a beach wrap or a bikini top]. There are several scarves in my accessory drawer that work perfectly around my head–such as this one.

And this one.

Scarves are great and all, but here’s the deal. One of the many wonderful opportunities I have is “working” at the ADORNit Shoppe. There are actually two of them here and they are splendid. One of the things they design and sell is fabric–delightful, wonderful fabric. When I see the bolts of this brightly colored, happily printed fabric I want to make all the things in the world–which is ridiculous. So–I decided to make a headband. Or two.

Headband criteria:

–simple to put on
–easy to construct
–that wouldn’t ever [evah] be too tight

[There is no headband in this world worth wearing if I’m going to get a headache from it. No no-no-no no no.]

–that wouldn’t slip off of my head because it wasn’t tight–which just meant I wouldn’t be using any fabrics that were slick

Here’s what I came up with. [It was my first attempt so the green fabric is just what I had lying around from some other project.]

And this one.

The fabrics are fabulous. They weren’t slipping off of my head, and weren’t too tight. However–it just wasn’t a great look. [I a little bit can’t believe that I wore one of these to Women’s Conference and presented. I presented in front of a group of women with the green one on. AAaaHHhh. Mrs. Butterworth. Or Lucille Ball. No fewer than seven kind women told me I looked like Lucille Ball. They weren’t speaking of her beauty pictures. That is all I have to say.]

So–I figured out that I needed a headband that would also fill up the space around my head, if you know what I mean. Different face shapes have different needs. My face shape needs height or I start looking like this little guy, which is not good.

Then this happened.

I had an idea. Why not add a piece of contrasting fabric?

So I did.

[The stripes are really great, huh?]

Love ’em.

The B-B-Buh-Bonus is that even if you don’t love tying bows–or–can’t for the life of you tie bows you don’t have to tie a bow and it still looks like you did.

[Crazy, great sentence.]

ADORNit taped a little tutorial for how to make this headband. Total taping time? Under 10 minutes–which is wow. Which also means that it’s a really simple project. When the video is set to go public, I’ll definitely post a link. Meanwhile, let’s get back to the giveaway.

Using fabric from the ADORNit Shoppe I made two headbands–one long and one the same as previously shown in this post. Take a look.

Headband number one.

Winning headband set 1

Headband number two.

Winning headband set 2

[My cute friend, Jillian is the model. I love that she was willing to do this on such short notice.]

And there you have it. Two headband sets to the winner-winner-ooo-la-la.

The giveaway ends next Monday–July 28th–at midnight–and the winner will be announced on Tuesday.

Yay-hay-hay!

I hope your Monday has been a rather splendid one.
