Skirts of summer | July 16
Skirts of summer.
[May I interject here that skirts are generally cooler than pants and I should have, could have–but didn’t–take any to China.
Next time. The end.]
It’s certainly not all of the skirts of summer that have ever been created–but–it’s two of them.
Two bright, floral, and long enough [let’s hear some hand clapping, foot stomping and a few, “Hoorah’s” for that one] skirts that can be paired with a little bit of everything.
They. are. fabulous.
They can be worn a number of different ways–and I’m bravely going to share a couple of ideas I had.
[Some more brilliant than others.]
Let’s have a look.
Here’s a peek at the skirts of summer–they are brilliant, bright, ooooooh so cute, and blissfully comfortable.
Did I mention they are long enough NOT to require an extender?
~grin~
You’re probably thinking of ways to style them splendidly, already.
Here’s what I came up with.
The first idea was a fun and flirty combination of stripes and florals.
The jacket is a lightweight [my favorite kind in summer] knit I purchased a couple of years ago from I don’t even remember where.
It worked really well.
And those shoes.
Love platforms.
Handsome Dude is 6’4″ and that gives my 5’7″ inch frame lots of opportunity to party on the tall, tall, tall side.
In these shoes I’m a jaunty 6′ tall–and that just makes me grin.
Tall works for me.
~smile~
As long as I keep those toes of mine in some semblance of repair, we’re good to go.
I don’t ever want my toes to greet people by name–no fungus, please, or whatever it is that gives a toe a mind of its own.
The second style idea ended up being borderline matronly/frumpsville.
It was quite unintentional.
[I have never–as in ever–jumped out of bed hoping to look matronly when I walked out of the door dressed for the day.]
A crisp, white shirt is one of my favorite summer pieces to wear.
I wear it with slim jeans as a slightly over-sized shirt with a statement necklace for a pop of color with some waaah [jazz hands] flats.
Pretty perfect summer-wear if you ask me.
I wanted to see if it would work with the skirt.
It kind of did.
I think if I tweeked it a bit, it would be a fun.
The outfit needed some fun, brightly colored bracelets/bangles.
It could simply be that I was bloated out of my mind and should have been traveling with the whales in pods or groups or families or whatever they travel in.
I think it’s a community I would thrive in.
[Okay–may I just say here that I do wish someone was home when I took pics.
It would be all kinds of grand to have them take photos of me being all cute and spunky and all that photography stuff that I simply cannot manage on my own.]
I have lamented long enough.
By the way–I actually had one more style with the green skirt all set to go and when I looked at the pictures I wept.
They were ghastly.
The mirror was as affected by the 96 degree weather we were having as I was and managed to shrink my height by 2′ and increase my width the same.
Super attractive.
I made the skirt high-waisted, wore a chambray top, added a 4″ thick gray elastic belt and a scarf.
[I’m currently obsessed with scarves wrapped around my head.
In fact I figured a little something out that ADORNit is going to video.
I will definitely post it. Definitely.]
It was a cute outfit.
This next skirt could easily be paired with the striped jacket mentioned before.
Easily.
So cute.
I used the same ‘high-waisted’ idea placing the skinny belt where it is.
It gives the illusion that I have longer legs than I actually do.
Boom to that I say.
Here’s a close up of the skirt.
[And those really great wedges.]
A pink or orange polka dot cardigan would be fabulous.
A peplum would be adorable as well–especially with the fit of the pencil skirt.
There are a lot more things you can do with these skirts.
How do you think you’d style one of them? I’d love some ideas!
By the way, there’s a surprise coming. On Saturday.
Just so you know. ~holla~
Thanks for stopping by.
Excuse me while I go dance a bit or two.
what do you think?
