A patch of pumpkins and two princesses

A patch of pumpkins, two princesses and some patience

I love to tell a story and this is a particularly delightful one.

Prepare to be smitten.

Not by the post–but by the unwitting participants. This delightful series of pictures was actually taken last year–2012–during a visit with family. The ‘photographer’ caught the action at the just right times. It took me a minute or two to notice a story–but once I did–well–there’s magic in it.

Two little cousins sitting in my lap amidst a patch of pumpkins placed in front of a store for the season.

Princess Lillie is the one on your left. She took being bopped on the head like a kindly, generous, old soul.
[She’s definitely not old, though–I think she was 3 at the time.]

Princess Alice is the adorable bundle of life on your right.  ~grin~

I think she just needed a wee bit more space to occupy–a wee bit more.

I give you the Patience of Princess Lillie and the Exuberance of Princess Alice:

Left to right, row-by-row, will give you the story.

I pause here for a moment of reflection and an apology.

My editing skills are only slightly more advanced than my photography skills. Which leaves you, the curious few, with unreadable captions in tiny little boxes in a collage.

The bottom center pic reads, “A moment’s rest for Princess Lillie whilst Princess Alice investigates…”

Back to the delight.

Lillie doesn’t become impatient and try to bat Alice’s arm out of her face.

Or grab it.

She doesn’t even lose the twinkle in her eye.

[I’ve been frustrated before and lost more than the twinkle in my eye.]

And she’s still not grabbing Alice’s arm.

Smooch.

It’s a rather splendid way to deal with mankind, don’t you think?

Not that I’m recommending smooching with reckless abandon. That’s not it at all.

It’s just the idea of being kind when kindness isn’t the first thing that crosses your mind.

Alice is very impressed with the story of “Treese” and Lillie and the baby she does not recognize 🙂

    That is delightful to hear.
Also–I need to know if you did any singing and dancing at the end. I must know. ~grin~

what do you think?
