A perfect parody plus a pinned ‘n’ tested

I think it’s rather marvelous that these two celebrated, astonishingly talented, witty, charismatic, and successful individuals could share a stage.

Yes, props to great writers and assistants and every person who helped put it together–but–for these two to share the stage without feeling smaller or wanting to make the other person feel small–well–that is no small feat.

~smile~

[Especially in show business where success is largely determined by approval and applause.]

I know people who can ‘share a stage’–several people, in fact–and I count myself blessed to know them. It doesn’t mean (at all) that they are perfect–and it doesn’t mean that they are actors/vocal performors–though some of them are. It means that they ‘share the stage’ in a marriage, or a family, a community, a business, a particular discipline, a congregation, a place of employment, a cast, an academic department, a faculty, or a friendship without feeling diminished by those they are associating with.

I don’t want to be a Diminishor–which is a made-up word that sounds a lot like Dementor–when I grow up–and it would be grand if I had fewer moments of feeling diminished (whether that was the intent of the association or not).

That is all.

Which brings us to the Pinned ‘n’ Tested part of our program.

I found this picture on Pinterest (the one and true) and decided it would be worth trying–just in case the treat was as easy as they indicated.

(the actual recipe from the blog is in black–my moments of enlightenment are in the  maroonish-red kind of color–I tell you that just in case you’d prefer to altogether skip the enlightenment)

1 package Oreo cookies

[I used these trying to save a $1.23.]

6 ounces white chocolate

[I used 12 oz and didn’t feel like I was being generous with the chocolate at all.  There’s no way I could have done the entire bag of cookies with 6 oz.]

1 package peppermint sprinkles

[Or–a few candy canes in a brown paper sack smashed to smithereens.  It’s a real word.]

Melt white chocolate.

[I’ve never melted chocolate before–except accidentally–because I thought only super cooking people of the universe and bakers could do that–well–successfully do that.  Here’s what I figured out:  use a glass bowl; microwave at 50% (power level 5); cook for 30 seconds; stir; cook for 30 more seconds; stir; repeat that until there are only a few morsels of chocolate swimming in the chocolate pool and just stir until those disappear into the creaminess.]

Dip each Oreo in the white chocolate, then lay out on a paper towel or baking rack.
[I dipped each cookie after it had been carefully skewered–and even then some of the cookies cracked–which was fortunate because I was famished from all of the baking.  And–I laid the freshly dipped cookies onto wax paper.]
Sprinkle with peppermint sprinkles.

[I started by dipping 4 cookies and sprinkling them with peppermint–just to make sure the chocolate shell wasn’t too hard. Because I was new at this–and slow–I ended up dipping 3 cookies and then sprinking–or sprinkling–the peppermint on–until Handsome Dude was drawn to the activity.  At that point I dipped while he sprinkled. Boom.]

Let them cool for about 30 minutes.

[It took about 10 minutes.]

It was definitely worth trying–and I’ll make them again.

Well–we’ve actually tried another variation already–but–I am certain this particular post has got to come to an end.

Variations on a cookie dipping theme are for another day.

Happy twenty-eighth day of Christmas month.
