Back-to-basics: six outfits in six minutes

Voila. Back-to-basics: six outfits in six minutes (especially if you just look at the pictures). It’s not a parade of things that are necessarily new. I’m just trying to figure out how to use the great stuff I already have in my closet. There are a couple of ideas rolling around in this brain of mine about outfits and closets, being frugal and looking fantastic. But they’re still rolling around. When I have the just perfect combination of ideas and the talent to express them clearly–I’ll be all over that like a buttered waffle.

Which sounds tasty right about now. Hmm-mm.

Back to clothes.

#1–H&M black and tan striped knit dress–black extender–black tights–black boots.

I wasn’t certain if I could get away with using an extender under this dress. It wouldn’t look ‘balanced” (at all) to use an extender made from delicate lace, for sure. Because of the leather pockets and the bold striped pattern on the dress, I needed something a little more substantive. Boom with how things worked out.

#2–Downeast brown knit jacket (which should have been pinned or tucked in the back while I was taking the photo to avoid the odd silhouette)–black Downeast tank–black knit skirt–black stockings–black boots–fabulous necklace.

Whew that’s a lot of black.

~grin~

I love black and brown together–it’s a rich, yummy color combination. Love.love.love it.

The trick to ‘getting away’ with such a generously cut jacket (referring to pleats, gathers, tucks, ruffles, and such) is the fitted pencil skirt. Formless clothes are comfortable sometimes–but generally not flattering on me. I won’t pair the jacket with any other kind of skirt.

[And it still looks like I could hide a person ‘neath the abundance of fabric.]

#3–Merona mixed green cardigan–Downeast tee–ADORNit coral lace tunic–Old Navy jeans–coral floral belt–gray flats.

[Continuous note to self: take pictures outside or in some light–or have someone else do it for you. ~sigh~ Thanks, Amber.]

#4–Liz Claiborne levi pleated skirt–black and white gingham collared button-up–New York & Co cardigan–black patent leather skinny belt–two necklaces (a three strand and a two strand)–Chinese Laundry red shoes.

They are fabulous shoes.

#5–Black and pink knit dress (that once had a label in the back but then I wanted to add a little something to the neckline and the label became a casualty)–black argyle tights–black boots–simple black necklace.

That pink is fantastic.

I love a great dress and this one is definitely a great dress.
It’s a no-maintenance dress.
–It doesn’t wrinkle–so no ironing
–The ruched edge that I added to the neckline means I don’t have to continually tug at the bodice to keep it up.
–The length is oh-so-on-the-mark.
–The sleeves are 3/4 sleeves which is the length of perfection.
It’s a great dress.
#6–ADORNit red wrap blazer–ADORNit creme lace tunic–Downeast jeans–Downeast tee–ADORNit necklace–ADORNit three-strand bracelet–UGG gray boots.
That’s a lot of ADORNit, huh? Well–you can see why, right?
Boom.
[Photo by the adorable Alison. Seriously–I know a lot of adorable people.]
Such a comfortable and perfectly stylish way to make my way through a day.
And there you have it.
If you have any questions about any item or piece of jewelry or wall color or whatever–ask away.
~smile~
Thanks for sticking around–and–please, don’t burp in public.
HaH!
