If I were the super ballerina dancer of the universe

I present a little song in the form of a very pixelated and grainy video clip.

Kermit’s Minstrel Song.  It’s delightful.

[And for those who aren’t in the know but would like to be–I also present the lyrics.]

If I were a poet,
I would write a sonnet.
It would say ‘I love you,’
your name would be on it.
If I were a farmer,
I’d give you a bunny.
If I had a beehive,
you would get free honey.
If I were a baker,
you could have a cruller,
If I were a painter,
choose your favorite color.
If I had some diamonds,
I give you a few,
anything to show you
how much I love you.
Did you guess my secret,
I am not a poet.
Couldn’t write a sonnet,
and I think you know it.
I am not a farmer,
can’t give you a bunny.
I don’t have a beehive,
sorry bout the honey.
I am not a baker,
Don’t know bread from batter.
And I’m not a painter,
and it doesn’t matter.
I don’t need a present
all I have to do,
is look at you to show you
how much I love you.

[It has just occurred to me that this would be a great Valentine’s Day post.  C’est la vie. Ahh-huh-huh–the language of love. Hmm. How about an accent? Go ahead–make your day–think Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast.]

Zees eez a weesh een my hart.

[Oh–that has to stop.  Typing in a French accent–or what sounds like a French accent in my head–will drive everyone quickly over the edge.]

Here’s the short of it.

If I were the super ballerina dancer of the universe
–and weighed approximately 93 pounds (with a tutu on)
–and could manage for one second to scooch myself across the floor doing the splits in as effortless a manner as she
–and could stand on my tip-tip-tip toes whilst pretending to eat tarts and still look elegant, well, this is the character I would long to be.

Fabulous.

Absolutely fabulous.

And just in case you weren’t aware of it — that whole bit of choreography is a tribute.  Here’s a glimpse into what is “the affectionate tribute to [a] great scene in Sleeping Beauty.”

Fascinating.

Fascinating and clever.
