National Waffle Day | August 24 | 2016

Happy National Waffle Day!

Happy National Waffle Day, my friends. I’m the person that ooh’s, aaah’s and gushes about waffles. Yes. Gushing is very appropriate. They’re dreamy and delicious. It’s waffle love, my friends. Waffle infatuation. I love those things. Celebrating a waffle by eating a waffle seems the most natural thing in the world.  It’s the pretty much perfect combination of circumstances. All kinds of waffles being made today to be consumed and appreciated by the masses of waffle-focused souls roaming the land. I’m giddy about planning the day of celebrations. What do we do to celebrate this most fabulous day?

First, I brought us a fabulous video clip to watch.

Waffles!

 Waffles for president.

Until then, waffles for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Ohhhhhh–yum.

Okay, wait. Here’s the deal, I would love to know YOUR favorite waffle topping. Seriously–do you fill each little waffle pocket with butter, and smother it with liquid gold? Or fresh fruit that fits perfectly into the sweet, crispy chambers and blanket them softly in freshly whipped cream piled high enough to almost tickle your nose?

Second, I show you some choices.

Oh the choices! The choices! It’s the bliss of waffle eating.

What I’ve done is spend a moment collecting five of the most delicious looking waffle recipes that I could find. Find a picture that makes your heart melt and your mouth water and click on that link. Of course, the next thing to do is make those waffles and celebrate National Waffle Day in the most delicious way possible.

[fyi — you can click on the picture OR the link — either will take you directly to the recipe and the fantastic blog I found it on. Enjoy!]

We’re going to start out with a Pumpkin Waffle.

Because PuMpKiN!

Oh, the joys of pumpkin everything in all the world — but I digress — let’s focus on this tasty morsel of a waffle.

#1 — Pumpkin Waffles

I found this on Cooking Classy with a Sprinkle of Fancy. Follow this link for the delicious and easy to follow recipe.

She adds buttermilk to her recipe which does great things to the density and height of the waffle. Delicious. I scrolled through several of her other recipes and have already pinned a few to try. Definitely worth a visit.

 #2 — The Best Waffles

That’s the title.

[I know. Sounds like you should be trying it, right now. It’s hard to resist a recipe that leads out with The Best in the title, huh?]

This one comes from Buns in My Oven. Follow this link for the recipe.

She adds corn starch to the recipe to make the waffle crispier.

Crispier!

[What kind of waffle magic is this?!]

#3 — Easy Brownie Waffles

happy national waffle day

This one is included because I know there is someone within the sound of my tappity-tapping keys who wishes they could somehow scratch the screen and smell the splendid aroma of that brownie waffle.

Did I mention EASY Brownie Waffles?

Follow this link.

Easy, because Club Chica Recipe cleverly uses a favorite brownie recipe, adds an egg — and a variety of splendid toppings.

raspberries

[You know I love raspberries.]

#4 — Gingerbread Waffles

GiNgErBreAd!

These are the waffles I’m hoping to make for today’s celebrating. I luh-huh-huv the smell of gingerbread — and the taste of gingerbread. And the smell.

~swoon ~

The idea of the smell of gingerbread wafting through a kitchen makes my heart smile broadly.

And I’m a little bit drooling.

I found this recipe on Alaska from Scratch. Follow the link HERE  to the tastiness.

She uses a mix of whole wheat flour and all-purpose flour as well as the just right mix of spices you’d expect to obtain the perfect gingerbread flavor.

[I’ll definitely post how this works out for me. I hope it’s as dreamy as it looks.]

And now the last and final waffle recipe on this wonderful waffle day.

#5 — Copycat Hotel Waffles

I found this recipe on Yammie’s Noshery. [Cute moniker.]

They sound delicious. They look delicious.

The directions are simple and easy to follow — and the photos are lovely.

Ta-da! There you have it. I’ve compiled a list of 5 delightful and different waffle recipes that I’m eager to try myself. It won’t happen in a day — but it will happen.

What is your favorite waffle topping? Are you someone that fills in all the little waffle pockets with butter, followed by a blanket of hot liquid syrup gold? Or do you fancy fresh fruit and a soft pillow of whipped cream?

I’d love to know.

Oh — and if you have a favorite waffle recipe, please, pretty – pretty please share it.

I would love that.

Happy National Waffle Day.

Enjoy your waffles!
