Peppermint Cookie Twin
Peppermint cookie twin
Last year, on precisely this date, I found myself in a predicament so astonishing that it warrants repeating.
I needed to find a peppermint cookie twin. Urgently in a super first – world – emergency – very – shallow – problem kind of way.
A peppermint cookie twin.
Here’s why.
I love peppermint. I L O V E peppermint.
[Ever so much I want to marry it.]
You must know that not every peppermint thing should be treated equally. Not all of it is tasty. Not all of it even smells like peppermint.
Imagine my surprise when a package of Pepperidge Farm Milano Slices Peppermint Crispy Cookies caught my eye at the local grocery store. I promptly snagged ’em. I regret that I didn’t simply take everything the shelves had to offer. Nevertheless, the full report of the eating experience can be summed up in one sentence. They are the most delightful peppermint cookies on the planet. Did I mention it’s a Limited Edition creation, because it is. Which means there wasn’t a single bag of these delights left on any store shelf within vicinity of my humble abode when I went back to purchase more.
It’s why I needed the peppermint cookie twin.
Pepperidge Farm Mint Milano Cookies on the left. [Tasty.] Those are the ones I have.
Pepperidge Farm Peppermint Milano Slices on the right. [Don’t even talk to me while I’m eating these morsels of delight and deliciousness.] Those are the ones I’d like to have.
When I searched online for these tasty morsels today, they are nowhere to be found. No one has them. No one.
Last year I figured out what to do.
I’m doing it this year as well — because yum.
The first thing you do is smash candy canes. Two of the 3″ candy canes, in fact.
Smash the little candy canes into splinters and slightly bigger pieces. It should take about 10 seconds.
Put two Mint Milanos on a microwave safe dish and microwave them for 10 seconds.
10 seconds.
Check to see if the cookie bottom and top are sliding off of each other because the chocolate is melting ever so slightly. If it doesn’t slide easily, microwave them for 5-10 seconds longer.
Slide the tops and bottoms apart, and lay them chocolate side up on the dish.
Scoop up those carefully crushed candy canes and sprinkle them onto the melted middles of the cookies.
[You’re gonna cry when you see how fast this goes. They will be tears of joy.]
Sprinkle more, or less, or just whatever amount you want. I discovered that bigger pieces weren’t as light and delightful as I would have liked. Smash them some more, if it comes to that,
They are quite good, quite good indeed.
Eat one or two or three.
Or four.
The wonderful thing is that you can make just a few or as many as you’d like to satisfy the craving.
They’re tasty.
