Real and true pumpkins

Oh–what a pleasant day this has been.  I quite frankly tell you that I did more chatting today than walking.

Which means one thing and one thing only:  Happy TaLk-tober 3rd.

I certainly won’t stop walking–but I may be modifying these blog posts for October 2012 in a variety of immensely delightful ways.

Perhaps.

I present you with a photo (taken within the hour) of my front porch.

Actually–I’m showing you the picture taken on Saturday first.  I spent the afternoon doing something that’s been on the to-do list for almost two years (remember that this is the year of finishing): adding color to the glass panel above the door.

I considered polka dots.

No I didn’t.

I didn’t consider polka dots, stripes or anything I might want to scrape off of the window in six months.

I wanted something that I would love from the view inside as well as outside of the house.

I used these paints:

And this (caming lines):

This is what’s inside of the package.

The project was very user friendly–very, very, very.  The instructions are simple and clear.

[Make sure the window is clean before painting it.  Don’t stretch the caming lines too tightly–in fact–don’t stretch the caming lines to make them fit at all–let them fit snugly–but don’t stretch them.]

This is actually the second project I’ve used these materials for. The first project was my sister Bonnie’s idea.

Handsome Dude and I had acquired a beautiful, round mirror that would have been costly to put a frame on.

Bonnie suggested using these paints–she has a similar mirror and tried it.

So, I tried it–and loved it.

Okay. I couldn’t figure out how to NOT take a goofy shot of the mirror.

Now back to the photo of the front porch.  This one was taken on Saturday–the paint on the glass panel was still drying.

The wreath: from a picture on Pinterest.

The pumpkins: Handsome Dude made them.

The crates: stuff that somebody else didn’t want.

The brightness on the spot above the door: heavenly.

Here’s the same porch–BUT–with real and true pumpkins.  (Photo taken this evening.)

We were planning on a rather spectacular homegrown pumpkin adorning our porch–but–oh deer.

Wrought iron above the door: another finished-on-Saturday project.

Simple and completed front porch.

Tun-tun-tun-tah.

Happy TaLk-tober 3rd.
