great ideas living intentionally

Three things only

Three things only:

Thing 1“Everyone, at some point in their lives, wakes up in the middle of the night with the feeling that they are all alone in the world, and that nobody loves them now and that nobody will ever love them, and that they will never have a decent night’s sleep again and will spend their lives wandering blearily around a loveless landscape, hoping desperately that their circumstances will improve, but suspecting, in their heart of hearts, that they will remain unloved forever. The best thing to do in these circumstances is to wake somebody else up, so that they can feel this way, too.”
–Lemony Snicket, Horseradish: Bitter Truths You Can’t Avoid

[That really is a book. Well–more a collection of bitter truths–but it’s real and true.]

Thing 2–My soul rejoices (and my heart sings) that none of these melodic creatures are actually in proximity to our home.

Aaaaaand thing 3–Words that are identical in the singular and plural form–in English.

This is a short list of singular nouns.

[Pretend you are learning this lovely language and longing to do splendidly on the GRE.]

For entertainment purposes only, read the singular form aloud followed by a spontaneous burst of answer in the plural form.

Go.

[Did you select the country/region that you are going to pretend to be from?]

Now go.

mouse
moose
shape
sheep
dog
deer
plane
aircraft
pants
shorts
eyeglasses
staple
scissors
species
offspring

Exactly.

Now–that is the official end of this particular post.

This next bit is included for the one little person I know who will find it delightful, amusing, and wondrous–and who will then be markedly inconsolable until she sees me.

[If, in fact, anyone else watched that little blurb of Ernie and Elmo and finds it impossible to live without me, please, please send cookies.]
