DIY Pinned & Tested Recipe

Muddy Buddy Cinnamon Churro

Muddy Buddy Cinnamon Churro Tastiness.

Tun-tun-tun-tah.

This is it–my patient bloggensteiner friends—a re-post.

I posted the Nutella Muddy Buddies first (here’s the link).

Then came my personal all-time tasty favorite, Lemon Bar Crunchy Munchies.

I could put a batch or two of those delicious bites of heaven in a bowl the size of a tractor tire and be reasonably occupied for the better part of a day.

They are a melt-in-your-mouth kind of party.

Lemon Bar Crunchy Munchies for president.

[Anyone with me on that?

Not that there’s a prize for having the same personal all-time favorite flavor as I have–but we could be favorite flavor twins or something.]

And now I bring you the Cinnamon Churro variety.

Here’s a photo of the ingredients.

Well–minus the cinnamon.

And the granulated sugar.

Aaaaaand the granulated sugar would have been in the lower left corner by the butter.
Here’s the recipe:

Cinnamon Churro Muddy Buddies

–9 cups Rice Chex Cereal [or Corn–I vote for Rice–there’s less of a flavor in the cereal]
–3 cups Cinnamon Chips

These are generally a seasonal item.  Check your local stores to see if they have them year-round.  I found them on Amazon: 6 bags for $17.28 with $1.99 shipping–which ends up being $3.21/bag.  The local North Logan Lee’s Marketplace sells them year-round for $3.25/bag. Just so you know.

–2 Tbsp. butter
–1 cup powdered sugar
–1/4 cup granulated sugar
–1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

And don’t forget the paper bag. [Not the lunch size–not the lawn size–the grocery size. Ask your local grocer.]

Pour the Chex into a large bowl and set aside.

Combine sugars and cinnamon–whisk it or fling a fork around in it–in a smaller bowl and set it aside.

Combine Cinnamon Chips and butter in a slightly-larger-than-the-one-pictured-below microwavable bowl.
Melt cinnamon chips and butter for 1 minute in the microwave and stir.
Be careful not to heat the chips up too much all at once or the chips will harden. If you want to be double-dog sure, just use heating increments of 30 seconds and then stir. 30-stir-30-stir-30-stir. If you want to be dibble-double-dog sure, you can also melt the chips in a double boiler OR in a bowl that is nested in another bowl that is filled with boiling water. This method ensures that your chips don’t harden.
Pour the melted chips over the cereal and stir until coated.
Unless you’ve microwaved them too earnestly and they are becoming hard.  In which case you would plop the melted chips onto the cereal.
And instead of stirring, you will use your hands to work the cinnamon mixture evenly throughout.
I totally got some action shots of that happening.
You’ll notice that Cathy’s not squishing the mix into particulates. You should never attempt this in your own home. Except I’m kidding–because if you microwave your chips this is a step you will become familiar with.
Skillfully done.
By-the-way–the kitchen smells divine at this point.
Every little crunchy morsel is being carefully covered by the cinnamon mixture.
Put the cinnamon covered cereal into the paper bag.
Sprinkle the sugar, sugar, cinnamon mixture on the cereal.
Fold the paper bag [it helps prevent a fine sweet layer of sugar from covering everything within the kitchen and adjacent rooms].
Shake! Shake! Shake!
Let the bag sit a bit while you finish some sweet dancing–it will give the cloud of sugar time to settle inside of the bag–instead of outside all ovah yo face an yo hans an yo countuz an stuff.
Messy.
Spread it out unto a cookie sheet to cool unless you’re too cool for cooling and you’d just as soon start nibbling if you haven’t already.

Easy-cheesy-super-breasy recipe.

~grin~

Enjoy the day.
