You will have spent this day very well

Sometimes I sit and wonder how it’s possible to be associated with so many remarkable people.

[I’m related to some of them and will gladly take the credit for their good natures, consistent generosity, happy dispositions, marked creativity, and beautiful eyes. And, no I don’t actually believe that there is a soul among you who would actually give me the credit for any of that. ~smile~]

Are people more grateful during the month of November?
       –Perhaps.

Is posting about gratitude an accurate indicator of actual gratefulness?
—I hope not.  (My own situation would be dire.)

——-

Someone posted this video on facebook–because it’s the month of feeling grateful and all.

I’m grateful that they did.

~grin~

Here’s the 411 about it:
–it’s A Moving Art original short
–Filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg
–Narration written and spoken by Brother David Steindl-Rast
–Spoken word and music montage created and composed by Gary Malkin

Several times through it and I found myself wanting to write down the things that were said.  So I did–but it’s not the entire narration.

For what it’s worth, here you go.

——-

“You think this is just another day in your life.  It’s not just another day. It’s the one day that is given to you–today.  It’s given to you.  It’s a gift.

“It’s the only gift that you have right now, and the only appropriate response is gratefulness.

“If you do nothing else but to cultivate that response through the great gift that this unique day is…then you will have spent this day very well.

“Look at the faces of people whom you meet.  Each one has an incredible story behind their face.  A story that you could never fully fathom.  Not only their own story but the story of their ancestors.  We all go back so far.

“And in this present moment, on this day, all the people you meet–all that life of generations of whom so many races all over the world flows together and meets you here like a life-giving water if you only open your heart and drink.

“…that everyone whom you will meet on this day will be blessed by you.”

“Then it will really be a good day.”

I hope you have weeks of that kind of day.

Happy Month of Thanks and Giving.
